Fourteenth post,
Is Civics Mirror a valuable learning resource?
I believe that Civics mirror is a learning resource; it is a fun and interesting way to surplus our base knowledge on civics. It better explains what we learn in civics. For a kinaesthetic learner lake me having just textbooks to learn from can be difficult but when you apply that knowledge to an activity like civics mirror you can furthermore understand the material.
The first good thing about participating in civics mirror is it better explains what we learn in civics. When people do not fully understand a curtain topic related to civics, kinaesthetically demonstrating it will help you understand the full idea. Plus it is a fun competition.
The second good thing about learning civics mirror is it better explains what we learn in class. When we learn about how the government works, we take notes in class. But with civics mirror we get to act out the roles of being in government. When we act out being in government all students will understand the material on the note better.
The third reason why I believe civics mirror is an excellent learning tool is because you can further more understand the material in a fun way. It further more explains the material by actually doing a mock government for you. Another way civics mirror is a great learning experience is it is a fun way of learning, I find when you enjoy what you are doing you will do a better job.
For these reasons I believe that civics mirror is a great learning experience.

Should Shakespeare be taught in school?
Those old books, where they don’t even speak proper English, should we have to be taught this in English class? Students don’t like to do it, teachers don’t lake to mark it ( I would assume) so why should we have to learn about this topic.
Wouldn’t it make sense that an English class use proper English. When we are taught Shakespeare, there is a different language in a sense with words like Ar’t, yerk’t, and thow’st. All words not recognised by a proper English dictionary.
Another reason Shakespeare should be taken out of the curriculum is because of the many more modern recourses that could be taught.
Students are not engaged in Shakespeare, when students are not engaged or interested in the topic they will not want to learn the top. A good example of this is our blogs, it is a topic that we like and we chose, so we are engaged and interested in our learning.
On top of the students not interested in Shakespeare students will find this material useless. Unlike basic math or English skills that are useful in the real world and are used on a regular basis Shakespeare is not used regularly, and does not have a large use.
Because of this I believe that Shakespeare should not be taught in high school curriculum anymore.

Whether it is a raging River
Or a slow winding Stream
It gives my spine a Shiver
And fills my head with a Dream
A forty inch pike
or an eight inch trout
It gives my adrenaline a spike
when I don’t catch fish I pout
With a fish on the line the reel is screaming
All I can think of is what’s on the end
while in runs and jumps my smile is gleaming
looking at the rod seeing the bend
Stop your Wishing
It’s time to go Fishing

Are people on social media Liars?
I believe that social media sites like twitter, facebook, or instagram encourage people to be more dishonest than they regularly are. I do not find my virtual presence to be dishonest, partly because I do not use a lot of social media. But I agree that social media does encourage people to be more dishonest.
I find people on social media sites are more encouraged to lie about small things. You may tweet something that happened to you then embellish the storey slightly, that still counts as lying. Your profile may not be accurate on facebook which is a form of lying. All of these small things start to add up and you start to accumulate a larger lie online.
Another easy way to lie is thru texting. It is quite easy as the person who you are texting cannot actually see what you are doing. Suppose you are to be at a friend’s house at 3:30, at 3:20 he texts you and says are you coming and you text back on my way, even though you are still at your house. In the ted talk we watched these previous two lies were known as “butler lies”.
This next lie is a different lie the “sock puppet lie”, such as online dating profiles. People lie about things such as height. They may put on their profile 5’9” when in reality they are just above 5’8”. This is not a very big lie but it can have some serious consequences as the person does not appear like they do online.
Personally I do not lie online. This may seem like a lie in itself, but because I do not us many social media sites there is a low risk of it for me.
Because of this Ted Talk I believe that social media is a way to lie.

Wow! One job, every one week, for 52 weeks. Wouldn’t it be great to try out different jobs every week to find your passion? That’s what Sean did in One Week Job, 2 jobs Sean did that I would like to try are Radio talk show host and Cattail picker.
The first job I would like to try is a radio talk show host. I think this job would be good for me as I like to talk, if I found a job that could enable me to do this I would probably enjoy this. This job also seems like a laid back job with not to many tough or challenging aspects. For me I think this job would be a life style as appose to a job.
The second job that Sean did that I would want to try and may enjoy is a Cattail picker. I think I would enjoy this job as it is in the outdoors and I like to be in the outdoors.
One job I would not enjoy would be a pre-school teacher. I would not enjoy this job because I do not like to teach young children so this job would not be for me.
I would like to participate for an experience like this because it would be interesting to explore what I can do for a carrier. Another thing is instead of picking a job and staying with it this would enable me to find my true passion and enjoy want I do.
For these reason the One Week Job has inspired me to find my true passion.

Eight Post,
Joblessness is affecting my field of interest
My field of interest is dental work. Joblessness is affecting me as education inflation, the rate of unemployment and job creation/ competition in our area.
With dental work, most dentists find a job as the rate of unemployment is 0.3% found on http://www.studentscholarships.org. Because of this fact I do not think that this will impair my choice of which field I would like to work in.
With this information in mind, I do think that education inflation plays a large role in the field I would like to pursue. I feel that because most people are seeking a degree of some sort, dentistry calls for 6-8 years of extra school and to become an orthodontist an additional 4 years.
Another point is finding a job, or opening my own clinic. With the low unemployment rate as stated earlier there would not be as tough of a time finding a job. In addition to this, some relatives in North Bay have told me that for their county there is only one orthodontist, who is always busy with clients. If I could follow the same path it would better my chances at not being part of the joblessness society.
To have a better chance at a job in this field I could co-op or intern with another dentist or orthodontist. This would better my chances because I would have more experiences competing for the same job with equally educated and trained people.
If I use the high five principal, use the low unemployment fact of the field to benefit myself, have a qualified amount of education, get a job right out of the gate and gain experience trough the way I feel like I won’t be part of generation jobless.

This week we did our digital foot print activity. It consisted of looking at our Facebook and Twitter accounts, to see what kind of impression we have put on ourselves in the digital world. We were asked the following questions, if you were applying for a job you really wanted, would you "clean up" your social media footprint? Why or why not? If you were an employer, would you consider checking into a potential employee's social media footprint? Would you fire an employee for their social media footprint? Why/why not?
When asked, if you were applying for a job you really wanted, would you "clean up" your social media footprint? Why or why not? I would not clean up my digital footprint because I do not have a bad reputation on the internet. In my opinion I do not have anything to hide from future employers that will not help or hurt my chances of being hired. I would also not need to clean up my digital footprint because I would have no need to because of the material that I post.
The second question we were asked was, if you were an employer, would you consider checking into a potential employee's social media footprint? I would want to check a future employee because if they are going to bring a bad attitude to the work environment, in my opinion it is not worth the trouble. Another thing about hiring an employee that you know will not work will in your business is if you know that ever Friday night they like to party, then they will not be very productive on Saturday.
The third question was would you fire an employee for their social media footprint? Why/why not? I would because if they are posting inappropriate things that will hurt the company’s views by the public it is not worth it.
For those reasons I believe that internet searches on employees is a great idea.

To Kill a Mockingbird, Book or Movie?
This week we watched the movie to kill a mocking bird after spending a few weeks reading the book, we were asked if we preferred the book to kill a mockingbird or the movie. I chose the book, watching the movie I found there were too many inaccurate depictions of the book and too many details left out. I also found that the movie was harder to follow, maybe because I was comparing it to the order of book but still the book I found to be better.
The first difference which I was not a fan of was the scenes that were the same as the book were not exactly the same but embellished or twisted. I found this was because the back ground information was not provided at the beginning.
Another thing I did not like about the movie as appose to the book was that too many detail were left out. At the beginning of the story is started off with Ms. Maudie talking about all the things Atticus can do which missed a lot of plot building information from the beginning if the story. Another thing that was left out was the snowfall, which leads to Ms. Maudies house burning down, there was also no Christmas or Ms. Dubose who were two large plot building scenes that built up to Atticus’s trial for Tom Robinson.
A third reason why I would choose the book over the Movie was the movie progressed a lot faster than the Book. In the book I found you got to learn the habits, thoughts, feelings and emotions of the character’s and connect with each one as the book evolved as in the movie it just skimmed by them and you did not make the same connections.
For these reasons I would prefer the book over the movie.

Today we watched the video “the most astounding fact” made by the famous astrophysicist Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson. I with his answer to what Time magazine asked him, “What is the most astounding fact you can share with us about the Universe?”. In summary, Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson answered that the atoms in our bodies are the same atoms that make up the universe.
I would agree with that answer because to know that although we are just a small speck in the center of a huge universe we are still extremely important. We all have the same atoms that create solar systems and stars. Although there is still a huge difference in size between us and the universe we are still as important as the stars and made up of the same atoms.
Another thing that Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson says is how we should value ourselves more because of this fact. I would agree because we are so small in the world yet we are so important in the universe.
In the video when Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson said the carbon guts have spreaded over the galaxy that build us. I find this astounding because even though the atoms that build us are so far away somehow they made the far journey across the galaxy to collect and form us.
Another point that I agree with that Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson says the universe is inside us. I would agree with this statement because all of the elements that make us up, make up the universe too.
When Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson says how we are important in the solar system even though we are so small, how everything has moved across the universe to form us and the universe is inside us. I agree with all of these statements that make up Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson’s answer, the knowledge that the atoms that comprise life on earth, the atoms that make up the human body are the atoms from all over the solar system.

A time in my life I can connected to what Atticus has said, “…if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you’ll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view…until you climb into his skin and walk around in it”(30). This happened to me once when I did not understand someone’s view on a topic and I had a different view on the same topic that I thought I was right while there was no right answer.
Because of my strong view and opinion on that topic I lost a friend, like Atticus says, “if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, You’ll get along better with all kinds of folks”(30) If I had of been more willing and open to a new view on things I wouldn’t have lost a friend.
Another thing that Atticus said that would have benefited me in that situation is, “.You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view”(30). I did not Consider what the other person said, which I should have, I just thought that my opinion was the right one.
After he says the previous quote Atticus says, “until you climb into his skin and walk around in it”(30). This is taking a more in-depth look at what the other person said. Atticus teaches scout that you cannot judge people until you know exactly how they feel, like I learn from my experience as a young child.
Because of my experience as a child and what Atticus taught Scout, I feel that now I know how my friend felt after we had a disagreement.

Why Langston Hughes was a champion for human rights? Langston Hughes was a champion for human rights for many reasons; first he spoke and wrote for what he thought was right, second he shared with people who had no idea the opinions and perspectives of the African American people and finally, he spoke out for consideration of race and social justice.
The first reason why Langston Hughes was a champion for human dignity is he spoke and wrote for what he thought was right. In the poem, “Let America be America again” Langston Hughes wrote about what he thought was right and his perspective on how the country should be. A quote describing this is “Must bring back our mighty dream again. Sure, call me any ugly name you choose—The steel of freedom does not stain, From those who live like leeches on the people's lives” in the example Langston Hughes is talking about first what he would like the country to be the truth of what he thinks the country is like.
The second reason why Langston Hughes was a champion for human dignity is he shared with people who had no idea the opinions and perspectives of the African American people like is his poem. An example of this found in the poem is “That such supine poverty exists there, That such stupid ignorance breeds children there, Behind such humble shelters of despair”, in this example Langston Hughes is talking about the poor living conditions that the African American people were faced with at the time.
The third reason why Langston Hughes is a champion for human dignity is he spoke out for consideration of race and social justice, like in the poem “Open letter to the south” he talks about how the coloured people fell in that situation. An example of this is, "You are my brother, black or white, You my sister-now-today!", in this quote he talks about how the coloured and white people are the same.
For these three reasons Langston Hughes is a champion for human dignity.

For these three reasons Langston Hughes is a champion for human dignity.

second blog
I believe that school does in fact kill creativity, just like right now; we only have three choices, 3 that I would rather choice not to write about. Because of my lack of creativity in this writing piece I will agree that school kills creativity.
Most assignments in school have one task which you have to complete, which I agree with. But i believe that you can complete that task in a variety of ways where the students can have a say in what they think the assignment should consist of using their creativity, like future forums.
I feel that if a student has input into what they think the assignment should consist of, and they like what they’re writing about they will do a better job and contribute more to it. Like the blogs that we are creating we can use our own insight, opinion, experiences, feelings and other contributions to the writing like that. When students like the topic they are writing about they will do a better job, like my blog which is about musky fishing a topic that I like to do and can write about too.
Another factor about school affecting student’s creativity is that they will get caught up with one thing like vocabulary in English class and only vocabulary; the other skills will not be used as much. Just like if you stick to the one task of an assignment and only the one task of the assignment you will lose the skill of creativity in your writing and that is why school does kill creativity.

First blog
Today I designed my blog, for one reason, It was the expectation in class. I was asked to blog about why I designed my blog the way I did. The first reason my blog looks like this is it was one of the templates , and i cannot find out how to edit it. Another reason the design of my blog has this appearance is I like the outdoors and this template has a picture of trees on the front page. A third reason i crated my template like this is my URL, it is muskiefishing.weebly.com, I like fishing, which connects to the outdoors theme of my blog. For these reasons my blog looks the way it does.
